Boutique branches out

Plenty of changes are happening in the area's boutique shopping world.

Meanwhile, in Durham, the three sisters behind Tre Bella Flowers and Gifts are branching out into women's accessories and wedding dresses.

Tre Bella has opened near Bruegger's on Ninth Street selling T-shirts, lingerie, handbags, jewelry and body care products. In late September, look for the back of the store to be transformed with a selection of higher-end wedding dresses by designers such as Lela Rose, Angel Sanchez and Junko Yoshioka. Dresses will start about $3,000 and go to about $12,000.

The store also will sell bridesmaid gowns and flower girl dresses by Jim Helm, and bridal jewelry, veils and tiaras by Homa Bridal.

The sisters -- Becky Simmons, Kate Price and Rachael Price -- will each take on a specialty in the varied business. Simmons will continue to run the floral business, which is on Broad Street; Kate Price will continue with the gift shop; and Rachael Price will oversee wedding dresses.

Lifestyles: The makings of matrimony

Then on Feb. 26, Tre Bella Bridal and Grace Leisure Events will have a Midwinter Night's Fashion Soiree at Six Plates Wine Bar in Durham.

The soiree will feature a fashion show of wedding couture from three of some of New York's best known wedding dress designers: Junko Yoshioka, Lela Rose and Angel Sanchez.

The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m., but the fashion show will start at 7:30 p.m.

Cost is $20 and wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Call (919) 286-1661 to reserve space.
